Atchelon is the common name of the entity summoned by the primal gods during the Ether War. It is known also as the Dust Lord, the Ruler of the Wastes, the King of Ahen. Atchelon is incredibly powerful, easily destroying the remaining gods of the elements and almost claiming the primal gods at the end of the Ether War. It took the combined efforts of the remaining gods to bind Atchelon away in the Far Realms. However, Atchelon’s might was such that it maintains a tie to the Material Plane and is always existing just beyond the mortal realm.
Atchelon is believed to be the source of magic in the world due to its continued connection to the world. This belief is strongly held by many archmages and scholars, but is refuted by dragons and other ancient creatures as being propaganda of insane cultists. Cults of Atchelon are quickly stamped out by most civilized kingdoms. All organized religions (including Atarop when the god was active) rush to destroy the followers of Atchelon whenever possible. However, The Fallen do not share this reaction and seek the absolution it offers.
Atchelon’s symbol is a blazing orange and red sun made out of worms. Its domains are decay, magic and insanity. As such, Atchelon’s servants and minions are often touched by these aspects and slowly change into something writhing and horrible.
